چکیده

Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is a plasma glycoprotein that binds androgens and oestrogens, regulates their bioavailability to target tissues. To date, several human SHBG gene polymorphisms have been identified. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) one of the most common endocrine disorders, hyperandrogenism has considered be hallmark PCOS. Many studies examined association between PCOS risk, but results inconclusive or inconsistent. Therefore, aim this meta-analysis was investigate whether are associated with risk Twelve were included, involving 4733 participants: 2271 patients 2462 control participants. The revealed polymorphism eight more (TAAAA)n pentanucleotide repeats (rs35785886) (odds ratio [OR] = 1.24, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.06, 1.44, Z 2.77, P 0.006) low serum concentrations in women (standardized mean difference –0.83, CI –1.54, –0.12, 2.30, 0.02). Other (rs6259, rs6257, rs727428 rs1799941) not significantly either concentrations. These findings suggest presence may predictive factor for

Association between RANTES Gene Polymorphisms and Asthma: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND A few recent studies have suggested that regulated on activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted (RANTES) polymorphisms (-403 G/A, -28C/G) are associated with asthma. However, there still existed studies which did not confirm these correlations. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship of RANTES and asthma using a meta-analysis. METHODS Pubmed,...

Association between Thrombophilia Gene Polymorphisms and Preeclampsia: A Meta-Analysis

OBJECTIVE To estimate the relationship between the risk of preeclampsia and two thrombophilia gene single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), the factor V G1691A SNP and the prothrombin G20210A SNP. DATE SOURCES A systematic search of the English-language literature up to November 2012 was performed using Medline and EMBASE. Search terms included "preeclampsia," "thrombophilia," "factor V Leiden...

Association between XPF Polymorphisms and Cancer Risk: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group F (XPF or ERCC4) plays a key role in DNA repair that protects against genetic instability and carcinogenesis. A series of epidemiological studies have examined associations between XPF polymorphisms and cancer risk, but the findings remain inconclusive. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In this meta-analysis of 47,639 cancer cases and 51,915...

Lipoprotein lipase gene polymorphisms as risk factors for stroke: a computational and meta-analysis

Objective(s): Stroke is the most common neurological disorder and genetic susceptibility has an important role in its etiology. Polymorphism in several genes such as lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is propounded as a risk for stroke. This meta-analysis investigated the association of rs285 and rs320 LPL polymorphism with stroke risk. Materials and Methods: We searched PubMed, Clarivate Analytics Web o...
